That is a rare treat. This was before Rosa finished "The Pied Piper of Duckburg" and Van Horn illustrated "Horsing Around With History," or Pat Block's "Somwhere to Nowhere". When I started collecting contemporary duck comics, I sorta glossed over Vicar as much out of a sort of kneejerk prejudice against moderns in general than anything else. Looking back, there's a lot to like--that "Filling Station" story is indeed a great piece of work (though when I think of how easily the Beagles could have avoided getting caught just by not making the station public--or by putting the relevant pump in a back room inside the building...man, they should hire me as a consultant). I'm sure that if I'd first encountered his work when I was younger and impressionable-er, I would always have been a big fan--I mean, I liked all this awful stuff by the likes of Dick Moores pretty indiscriminately, so surely I would've had no problems with someone as skilled as Vicar.

But the good news is, as you note, there's plenty of time to rediscover his work, even more so if we ever get a new publisher (we're waiting...).GeoX, one of the GeoX boys.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14658452994152399308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2756369649414088624.post-53404325088917055452012-01-07T01:59:32.895-05:002012-01-07T01:59:32.895-05:00Joe,
