But what's even more inexplicable is that I actually don't mind watching the show. I think it's just because of familiarity. "Hey, that's Cyborg! Hey, that's Koriand'r! Hey, that's Raven! I know who they are!" ...but, well, that said, should I make an association with this...

Whether or not I "should", the act of the matter is that I do... leaving us with the real question: what kind of mixed-up world do we live in, where a production making such a radical -- and not particularly tasteful -- departure in nature from the source material is even a remote possibility, let alone a full-blown reality?

The sad fact, Ryan, is that the media giant that owns the property can commit all the atrocities upon it that it deems appropriate. The TT show was HORRIBLE, and I wanted nothing to do with it. Marv and George should have begun “rolling” as far back as 2003.
ReplyDeleteI’d like to think that YOUNG JUSTICE made up for that – as it was the series that TEEN TITANS *should* have been.
I never saw the 2003-06 Teen Titans animated series, as I wasn't watching Cartoon Network or reading comics much during that span of time. In fact, I never read a single TT comic, let alone Marv and George's fantastic run, until the past couple of years.
ReplyDeleteBut the current Teen Titans Go! is almost an object of fascination to me, in the "WHAT were they thinking?!" sense. Of course, I should know to expect that of Warner-DC.
I think I'll catch up on Justice League and Justice League Unlimited before, if ever, I get around to checking out the 2003-06 TT series. ;)

Yes, both of those… Along with BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD and YOUNG JUSTICE – and nearly every “Direct-to-DVD” DCU animated movie special. That should give you more than an enough to forget TT.
